an anthropology of WATER
What there is to design around water is how we understand and relate to it,
This project explores the changing nature of water through a persons breathing pace.
An Anthropology of Water
A responsive surface captures the shape of water in a specific moment. It is then brought to movement by making the input of light relative to the changes of a persons breathing pace.
In this way, it creates an ecosystem where the reactive nature of water is in direct connection with a person's emotional state, measured through the vital biological process of breathing.
This concept allows for patients to self-diagnose and have a more natural, poetic experience of their own health state.
Water engulfs and carries what it encounters, and what it carries makes it move. This is the transparency of water: its movement reflects a sensibility to its surroundings, and in this way makes other things present through that which changes it. Its surface reveals the life within and surrounding it.
